Great events

Thanks to all for a great meetup last Thursday. In total about 50 people stopped by I believe and it was a great atmosphere and a good chance to chat over beer :o)

Maybe we just need more events like this - shorter time for talking/presenting, more time for beer and chat..?
:)

Lastly a reminder to all interested in the IGI Awards - the last workshop is merged with a visit to the Gogogic office Saturday the 13th of March -… Continue

Don't forget the educational games...

A brief mention of educational games on the Guardian website:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2010/mar/03/naomi-alderman-educational-games

prompted me to remind everyone not to forget the genre of educational games. Despite a setback some years ago, that genre is now coming back stronger than ever as research into the various new pedagogical approaches it allowed for continued. One e… Continue

Heading to GDC? Feeling social? Like some beer?

Thursday 4th of March we'll be heading to Balthazar for our monthly meetup ("the monthlies").

This time we will have a bit of a chat about conferences such as GDC and NordicGame.
Who's going and why. What are they good for and how to make the most of them, etc etc

Also, we'll have an extended networking session fuelled by some non-non-alcholic beverages (only 700 ISK for a "big on crane") so this is a great opportunity to meet up and socialise (even more than usual) with th… Continue

I want it all and I want it NOW !

Wired has a really interesting article for anyone designing or building games for the web (or perhaps any games)
http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2010/02/i-want-it-now/

It's an interesting summary of comments, thoughts and points of view from the DICE summit in Las Vegas.
The oft-mentioned short attention spans and instant gratification (SASaIG) are of course in a key role there, but it takes those further by looki… Continue
